Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Enlightenzz is a personal blog written by Susie Adriance for women navigating life after 50. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language on purpose, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not much use to anyone.
The short version
- I collect your name and email only when you hand them to me, by joining the email list or sending a message.
- There is no Google Analytics on this site, no advertising network, and no Facebook pixel.
- I never sell, rent, or trade your information. Not now, not later.
- You can leave the email list at any time, and I will delete your information if you ask.
- Some product links are affiliate links, which means Amazon may pay me a commission. That costs you nothing.
Information you give me
Joining the email list
When you sign up for a free guide, the newsletter, or any other download, I ask for your first name and email address. That information goes to Mailchimp, the service that stores my list and sends my email. I use it to send you the thing you asked for, plus occasional emails with new writing, resources, and the rare product recommendation.
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are out, permanently, no questions asked.
Using the contact form
The contact form asks for your name and email, with a phone number and message as further fields. I use WPForms, which stores submissions in the site database and forwards them to my inbox. I use what you send only to answer you.
Leaving a comment
If commenting is open on a post, WordPress stores the name, email, and comment you submit, along with your IP address. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, my web host keeps standard server logs. These record IP addresses, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. They exist for security and troubleshooting, and I do not use them to build a profile of you.
BetterLinks, the plugin that manages my shortened product links, counts how many times a link is clicked. It tells me that a link was clicked, not who clicked it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in three ways:
- Necessary cookies set by WordPress, which keep the site working and remember you if you leave a comment.
- Third party cookies set only if you interact with an embedded element, such as saving an image to Pinterest.
- Amazon cookies set when you click an affiliate link and land on Amazon. Those belong to Amazon, are governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, and are how a commission gets credited.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though a few conveniences may not.
What this site does not do
There is no Google Analytics here. No advertising network, no retargeting pixel, no Meta or Facebook tracking, no session recording, no data broker. I do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information for anyone else’s marketing.
Affiliate links
Enlightenzz is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that lets sites earn fees by linking to Amazon.com. When I recommend a product and you buy it through my link, Amazon pays me a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same. Some of these links are shortened through amzn.to, which is Amazon’s own link shortener.
I recommend only things I would tell a friend about. A commission does not buy a recommendation.
Services I rely on
Running a website means trusting a few companies with pieces of the work. These are mine:
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which stores the email list and sends my email.
- Amazon Associates, for affiliate links and commission tracking.
- Pinterest, where I share images that link back to articles here.
- My web host, which stores the site and its database and keeps server logs.
- Google Search Console, which shows me anonymous, aggregated search statistics for the site. It reports search terms and page counts, never individual visitors.
Each of these has its own privacy policy governing what it does with the data it holds.
Google API services
I use a private tool of my own to read this site’s performance data from Google Search Console through the Google API. That tool runs on my own computer, signs in with my own Google account, and has read only access to Search Console properties I own. It reads aggregated statistics about how pages on my sites perform in search.
The tool does not access, store, or transmit any personal information belonging to visitors of this site, and nobody but me uses it. Enlightenzz’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long information is kept
Email addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. Contact form messages stay in my inbox and the site database until I clear them out, generally within a year. Server logs are held for a short window by my host, typically a matter of weeks.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- tell you what information I hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your information entirely
- stop emailing you
Email susie@enlightenzz.com and I will take care of it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these rights come from the GDPR, and my basis for processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you similar rights, including the right to know and the right to delete. I have never sold personal information and have no plans to start, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and access to the list and the site’s admin area is protected by strong, unique passwords. No website can promise perfect security, but I do not keep the kind of data that would make this one a target. No payment details or sensitive records are stored here.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, I will update the date at the top of the page, and for a significant change I will say so in an email.
